There should have been a blogpost come in before this but it seems to be stuck somewhere in the ether (I guess I shouldn't grumble, would seem churlish, given that I am in New York on a mobile phone and expecting communication instantaneously via multiple operators, the internet, and the like...)
Oh yes sorry did I mention I'm in New York? Indeed so. Being abroad often leads me to spurt-up the ol' blogerillo, and this trip is no exception. In fact, thinking about it we failed to blog from Stockholm, but.. well I'll try and fix that later.
I'm here for a couple of days for work. Quite a flying visit, just two nights here at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel - a kitsch vision of 70s styling, with more mirrored walls than I've seen for many a year, but fantastic views. I'm on the 36th floor looking over the East River and Roosevelt Island. The sun is shining and the weather is gorgeous.
If I could take some more interior shots I would but I doubt they'll capture the styling. In many ways kudos to the owners for not trying to haul it into the 21st Century, although a few of the fittings could do with a bit of maintenance. However sitting in the Ambassadors Grill for breakfast this morning I'm confident it was pretty much the same scene as if I'd been sporting a mustache and flares and reading the paper in 1976 (when I was...)
