Oh well
Four good songs. We’d’ve been happy with any of them going through. And somehow the Great British Public managed to choose the crappest.
We obviously had misplaced faith in them after their coming up trumps last year and voting for Scooch (despite the Beeb not putting the number up during the sing-off).
It’s not that Andy Abrahams’ song is awful - although it’s very forgettable - and I acknolwedge that technically he is a safe bet to not cock up the vocals. But I really do fear that what looks cosy and fun in a small BBC studio a la Hootenany/Later with Jools will be completely lost in a massive arena and a huge stage in Belgrade. I think the chances of it standing out are somewhere near nil.
Michelle Gayle, in the end, was quite amazing in a completely random way. That routine will, I am sure, be making an appearance at this year’s Fiasco, no matter what...
