Ultralite ahoy!

Can you believe it? In just over 24 hours we’ll know the names of the first 10 countries through the semi-final, and a fair idea of the running order for Saturday’s final. Eurovision has a habit of creeping up on you really.

As you know, the main action as far as we’re concerned is the Second Semi on Thursday - which is a relief, as it means tomorrow can be a more pleasant build-up rather than the nerve-wracking fear-fest which Thursday will be. In fact there aren’t that many songs we have a super-strong view about tomorrow - a fair smattering of good’uns, and some that we really rather don’t like - but nothing that’ll have us crying into our EUROhankies if they don’t get through.

Probably our favourite is Norway, which, as the Schlagerboys have pointed out, is only lacking a key change. I think it’s safe to say we are rooting for Maria.
Other ones to keep fingers crossed for are Andorra, Slovenia, and Greece - who have a particularly strong number in the vain of, well, nearly every previous entry they’ve ever had (NB: it’s a formula that works well for them)

There’s another notable performer in tomorrow’s show, but not totally for the right reasons. On one level - a Comic Relief one, perhaps - this isn’t an awful song. But I think it is best all round if it bombs tomorrow - which it probably well. Who anywhere east of the UK is going to find it amusing (and even for us it’s a bit of a stretch)...
