Getting drinks at Aldwych ticket office

The IanVisits... blog (one of my Reader Blogroll selection, so you'll see it occasionally on the right under "Urban Life") has details and pictures of a recent visit to the disused Aldwych station on the Piccadilly Line. Worth a look.

I was particularly chuffed back in 2004 to go to a gig in the ticket office at Aldwych. Was damn cool to be in there and felt pretty special; in fact I'm not really aware that much like that does happen there. Looking at Ian's photos, it seems that the place has been spruced up and restored a bit since then - I seem to remember it being a bit shabbier. But then again, it was dark, and drink was flowing.. and it was 4 years ago and pre-cameraphones (of any significance - in fact it was during my calculator era). Oh, and I was quite taken with the cute guitarist of the main bad, 7law, I seem to recall.
I also remember that drinks were served at the ticket office window, and the station toilets were of course in full use. The stage was just in front of the entrance on the Strand, and we came in and out via the Surrey Street shutters.

There was, once a gallery of photos from the night on the 7law website. Alas, it seems 7law may not be with us anymore - although Google harks back to a different era when 7law were on their way to bigger things. (NB: couldn't tell you anything about their music. It had guitars in so is unlikely to have rocked my world, guitarist aside).
