Finally Snap Happy
Just a quick note that I've had a spurt of effort tonight (stop sniggering) and uploaded a couple of Flickr sets to the carlbob.com photostream.
I finally managed to get GPS geo-tagging to reliably work on the N95 and Flickr actually handles placing it on the map quite well - so thought best show it off.
Slightly belatedly, anyway, there's a couple of shots from Stockholm Europride - yeah, I know, it was a while ago.
Plus we made a little trip to the Watercress Line for August Bank Holiday - the romance of steam, and all that...
Also, on the Urban Life front (more specifically semi-urban semi-abandoned life), some shots from Newhaven Marine station on a rainy, grey, deserted Tuesday in September. Check the Wikipedia links if you want to read what it's all about and why I ventured there.
It really was quite a surreal experience - a feeling that once the whole Harbour would have been bustling, with the railway bringing freight, boat-trippers and adding to the sense of life in the area. Instead the railway wends its way through a pretty bleak (but therefore quite fascinating) landscape.
(Someone else has, of course, got better, closer shots than I ever could - I felt like a bit of a twat wondering around taking snaps - so click here to see 'em and read something more insightful).
I could be doing Newhaven a disservice, having only made a fleeting visit. The Newhaven-Dieppe ferry still runs, after all, so I guess it must get pretty busy there. But this ain't Folkestone or Dover.
Getting off at Newhaven Town though - got to say, it all felt a little rough... hmm, maybe it IS Folkestone after all?
