Google does Eurovision
Is it me, or is there even more buzz around Eurovision in the general media than normal this year? Not that I'm complaining. First BT are doing a cash-in PR stunt around it with their Eurovictory campaign (and who better to spear-head a cash-in PR stunt than Katrina Lesbiana-vich?)...
..and now Google are doing something much more useful, with their Eurovision Predictor Gadget. Bloody clever little idea if you ask me - it basically takes Google Trends data and uses that to see who's hot and who's not - and cleverly implemented, e.g. ensuring that searches within a country for that country's act don't count. Nice!
I imagine both BT and Google have a few gays Eurovision fans in their marketing teams. Good on 'em!
Edit 28/12/12: Inevitably, the BT thing is no more, so the embed above has been removed as it was broken and the link has been replaced with a Wayback link, for what it's worth. The Google Eurovision widget still works but reflects its most recent incarnation in 2011 (they obviously didn't continue it in 2012).
