Happy New Year: it's 2013 in Pop
Blimey, here we are again... it's another start of the year, and another chance to take stock of what 2013 offered us musically.
I'm not sure if it was a classic or not - certainly the immediate list of songs-of-the-year is not quite as extensive as last year.
We certainly put in some decent form on the gigging though: Girls Aloud, The Big Reunion Tour, Pet Shop Boys, Selena Gomez, the Stephen Lawrence Unity gig, Icona Pop, Velvet, Hera Björk, 5ive, Kim Wilde, Tegan and Sara, Angie Brown... all featured...
Anyway, without further ado, here are a handful of songs that, to some degree or another, feature as some of my highlights of the year (as ever, Eurovision & Melodifestivalen excluded for reasons of, well, space, mainly). As ever, I recommend taking a look at Popjustice's Top 45 of the year too.
One Direction - who produced quite a few classics this year - and Best Song Ever, which in 2013 terms at least it certainly was.
Janet Leon's official Stockholm Pride anthem (and the amazing 7th Heaven remix thereof)
They're still going - just. The Saturdays scored a number 1 with the underwhelming What About Us... but this was definitely their best of 2013.
Indeed, I love it.
An album full of great pop - great to see them live at the Troxy.
