2015 in Pop
Another year with some great pop to enjoy. And we saw a happily large amount of it live once again… a number of 3 gig weeks towards the end of the year proved particularly exhausting! I’ll pop the full list here in due course for posterity, but the highlights were a joint top of two December gigs just 4 days apart: Kylie at Christmas and, finally, and unexpectedly, getting to see Carly Rae Jepsen live.
(It also goes without saying that album of the year - not an accolade I normally bestow - was CRJ’s E-MO-TION. What a bloody masterpiece).
So here goes: Top 5 followed by 15 other great songs. The usual rules apply: has to have been a ‘single’ - to the extent one can make that distinction - and released in the UK in 2015. No Eurovision/Melodifestivalen (notwithstanding Måns making the charts… so I popped him as a bonus at the end). Only one song per lead artist, which means just one each for some artists who had a number of good singles this year.
